Welcome to week three! How’s it going? Last week, we spent time connecting with the important energies of our past. This week, you’ll come even more fully into the present to consider what drives you: what do you really value? I don’t mean material stuff (although it’s nice to have nice things): I mean what really drives you? What gets your juices flowing and brings out your fire?
“Ignite Your Passion” Activities
Journal Prompt
What do you want? What are you willing to do to get it?
This week, when you sit down to journal, let your mind — and your pen — freely explore all of the things you’d like to see show up in your life. Maybe start with your week one intentions, but don’t be afraid to let this list include monetary/material stuff alongside spiritual goals. When you come to things (we all like nice things), start to drill down further: what does that home/car/object represent for you? What would having it mean? And how-or-why does that inspire you? You’re actively looking for what gets you excited!
No room for judgement on these pages. If you came here thinking you “should” want certain things, then let that nonsense go immediately!
If you journal more than once….
- Go back over that list and change any “I wants” to “I ams.” Literally just write in “I am” or “I have.” If you set the intention to “become more mindful,” literally write “I am mindful” or “I live mindfully.” Don’t let that nagging inner critic fight you. If you wrote about financial or material gain, correct that statement to “I have.” I recently looked back on an exercise I did like this in another course, and I was surprised that some of the specific things I’d noted in those pages have come to pass … and I forgot I’d written them. So don’t be self-conscious!
- Reflect on your earlier entries and let the pen flow as you ask yourself what is standing in your way? There will be plenty of reasons why you think you can’t do something, so try to follow at least one to its natural conclusion. For example, if you see a financial obstacle, let yourself explore ways around that. Is there a path you hadn’t considered? Is there a cheaper version? Are there people who have succeeded without having the finances you imagine you need? Is there something deeper at the essence of this dream or goal? If you want to be an artist, can you find a way to make your art?
If you have completed the journal prompts above, then simply let yourself write for ten minutes without any rules or restrictions. Consider the prompts, your previous journal entries this week, and just let your pen go!
